All You Need to Know about Designing Bathroom Vanities
Vanities Aug 16
If you want your bathroom vanities to be exceptional, you need to carefully plan how to design them. This endeavor requires a lot of decisions to be made so it is wise to seek help from the pros. You need to make the right choices from the layout and type of sinks to install to the design of the countertops. Therefore, if you don’t want to risk it, get the assistance of an experienced designer and contractor so that this is done flawlessly. In terms of planning for it, here are the things you need to know.
1. Choose the layout
Before deciding on other things, the first thing that you should do is to determine the layout. This will serve as the outline that every decision will be based on. You need to know where you will install the vanity and how big it will be. You can consider a galley layout with two spaces that is separated by a walk area. This is one of the common layouts out there. Each space can have its own sink, which is ideal for couple’s bathrooms. If you are the sole user of the bathroom, one space can be used for washing your face while the other space can be used for seating.
2. Determine the style
Once you have finalized the design and the number of sinks (you can choose to have only one although having two sinks is more common), you can decide on the style. You should decide if you want it to have a traditional look or a modern vibe. If you are being playful, you can have a good mix of both. When it comes to design, you also need to decide if you want the vanity painted or stained. For a traditional look, getting it stained is preferable. You also need to decide what color you want it to have. Aside from color, you also need to settle the door style and the drawer style. You can either go for doors or have pull-out drawers.
3. Select the countertop
There are many materials you can choose from when it comes to countertops. These include marble, quartz, granite, concrete, wood, laminate, and solid surface. These are just some of the most common countertops. Of course, you can pick something more customized to your needs. Meanwhile, if you choose to have a pedestal sink, you can skip this step as it will not be necessary.
4. Add the fixtures
Finally, you need to pick what fixtures to put in your bathroom to complement this. You may want to add sconce lights for better lighting. You may also want to have decorative mirrors that match the design of your bathroom. You may also want to get intricately designed faucet handles. All of these can contribute in the overall appeal of your bathroom.

From start to finish Kurtis was a great company to work with. From the initial contact and design concept with Gregory Holster to the cabinet drop off team, the install team led by project manager Jeff Tuomi and the countertop company, the project was on time and all work was performed beyond expectations. This was greatly appreciated seeing as it was completed on December 23. All the people involved were professional and did an excellent job.
Shanna was our project consultant. Picking out cabinets along with counters can be somewhat overwhelming but her knowledge & experience helped us make the right decisions. Dylan & Juwan unloaded truck & Dylan check off ship ticket to make sure all boxes were accounted for. Courteous & pleasant to talk to…nice job of stacking everything neatly in our garage. We couldn't be more pleased with the service & so happy with our kitchen
We recently worked with Lauren on cabinetry for a master bathroom renovation. She was great to work on the design and selections. Lauren was efficient and responsive from cabinet selection through ordering. Our overall installation was smooth. We had some unforeseen circumstances impacting our ability to accept delivery of our cabinets on the initial agreed upon date. Kurtis was very accommodating in rescheduling delivery given our project challenges. We couldn't be happier with our cabinets for this project.
We had complete renovations to our kitchen and main bathroom. From start to finish, the design with Shanna was exactly what we asked for and Jeff stayed on top of the renovations, communicating each step of the way. Every worker was professional and the final product is elegant and functional. We were very happy with Kurtis and would choose Shanna and Jeff again.
We love our new kitchen! Kurtis Kitchen & Bath did an outstanding job, and Adrian at the Clarkston location was exceptional to work with—creative, patient, and really listened to what we wanted. The project was well-organized, and we went from demo to a fully functioning kitchen in just 30 days. Highly recommend!
