Different Cabinet Options for Kitchen Remodel
The kitchen is one of the rooms in the house that gains the most traffic. Therefore, it is also most susceptible to wear and tear over time. This isn’t anything to worry about as a kitchen remodel is an effective way to bring these rooms in homes in or near Royal Oak back to life. A kitchen upgrade doesn’t have to be overly expensive or time consuming. It is something that can even be done as a DIY project, depending on skills and time available. One of the most important features of this room is the cabinet space. These are both storage solutions and space savers that are used frequently for a range of tasks. When remodeling, consider keeping existing cabinets rather than installing new ones. There are many ways to refinish and repurpose a cabinet that is already there. This can include things such as a new paint job, new doors, or new hardware accessories to give them a second lease on life. To reserve more of your budget for cabinet remodeling, considering alternative countertop options such as recycled products or stone cuts is a good way to go. Granite is one of the most popular choices out there, but also slightly more expensive that some alternatives.
Laminate is a budget friendly solution that comes in a range of colors and patterns and ca be designed to look like fancier stone or wood. Cabinets are something that are greatly affected by appliances. Therefore, during a remodel, it is a better idea to leave the appliances where they are and work around them. Moving mechanics and electrics of appliances can make upgrading cabinets much more expensive and time consuming. If keeping the existing cabinets in place isn’t an option, there are two pathways to go down when getting new ones. The first option is custom made cabinets. These can be more expensive and are generally made from specialized timber or wood. They are very stylish and of great quality, but not always in everyone’s budget. If they are an affordable option, they work very well as they are customized to certain sizes, materials, and finishes of choice. A more budget-friendly option to getting new customs cabinets installed is to go with a ready-to-assemble option. These are essentially semi-custom cabinets that can be up to half the cost of custom made ones. The downside to this option is that there is less room to personalize them to a certain size, style, material, and finish. Costs for both custom and semi-custom cabinets vary depending on the location so getting a range of quotes is wise before committing to one cabinet maker.

From start to finish Kurtis was a great company to work with. From the initial contact and design concept with Gregory Holster to the cabinet drop off team, the install team led by project manager Jeff Tuomi and the countertop company, the project was on time and all work was performed beyond expectations. This was greatly appreciated seeing as it was completed on December 23. All the people involved were professional and did an excellent job.
Shanna was our project consultant. Picking out cabinets along with counters can be somewhat overwhelming but her knowledge & experience helped us make the right decisions. Dylan & Juwan unloaded truck & Dylan check off ship ticket to make sure all boxes were accounted for. Courteous & pleasant to talk to…nice job of stacking everything neatly in our garage. We couldn't be more pleased with the service & so happy with our kitchen
We recently worked with Lauren on cabinetry for a master bathroom renovation. She was great to work on the design and selections. Lauren was efficient and responsive from cabinet selection through ordering. Our overall installation was smooth. We had some unforeseen circumstances impacting our ability to accept delivery of our cabinets on the initial agreed upon date. Kurtis was very accommodating in rescheduling delivery given our project challenges. We couldn't be happier with our cabinets for this project.
We had complete renovations to our kitchen and main bathroom. From start to finish, the design with Shanna was exactly what we asked for and Jeff stayed on top of the renovations, communicating each step of the way. Every worker was professional and the final product is elegant and functional. We were very happy with Kurtis and would choose Shanna and Jeff again.
We love our new kitchen! Kurtis Kitchen & Bath did an outstanding job, and Adrian at the Clarkston location was exceptional to work with—creative, patient, and really listened to what we wanted. The project was well-organized, and we went from demo to a fully functioning kitchen in just 30 days. Highly recommend!
