Establishing Good Finishes to Round Out Your Kitchen

Often times, people talk about kitchen remodeling in Livonia, but never consider the finishing touch. Adding the right fixtures to this special area of your home is a must. It gives your place that love and warm feeling that you need to create a sanctuary within the dwelling. It's a happy place that you want to build for your family. Here are a few ideas to help you make this happen.

Picking the Right Countertops

Don't become worrisome on choosing a countertop. Get some advice from your designer to help you find a great look in the kitchen. Imagine what a particular countertop feels like after placing your cutting board down to chop up some fresh vegetables. If you really are the chef of the family, then choose a countertop that's not only durable, but easy to maintain. You'll get better use out of it, and it'll make a sounder investment. If you want to have a larger than life look, stainless steel is a great choice. Simplicity with elegance is what you want to have at the end of the day. Think about how your countertops will contrast to everything else in the kitchen.

Choosing Quality Cabinetry

Now, this can be a bit tricky. While you want the color and material to stand out a bit, you have to realize that this is one of the first things people take notice. Clean and quality materials work best. If you want to add a bit of splash, good earthy or creamy tones can work well with the darker aspects of the kitchen. Less is more in this case. Adding depth from small to large cabinets give your space a bit more livelihood and character. A selection of a few materials works well to keep things interesting but not too over-the-top. Next, you want to go a bit left field to add more spunk to the kitchen.

Don't be Afraid to Experiment a Bit

While you do want to keep things simple and elegant, a few offbeat colors can certainly jazz up the spot. For example, you can accent the kitchen with a unique looking vase or flower pot to give it a more down to earth feel. Choosing a quirky looking wallpaper will help the kitchen develop sense of humor. Also, it creates a general story that makes the place more of you and your family’s personality. While it's important to match things up, a few oddities certainly bring it all together. Splash a bit of color on the walls or even the curtains on your window. Just be sure that it evens everything out instead of looking completely out of place. Adding these finishing touches will certainly enhance the look and presence of your kitchen.

From start to finish Kurtis was a great company to work with. From the initial contact and design concept with Gregory Holster to the cabinet drop off team, the install team led by project manager Jeff Tuomi and the countertop company, the project was on time and all work was performed beyond expectations. This was greatly appreciated seeing as it was completed on December 23. All the people involved were professional and did an excellent job.

Shanna was our project consultant. Picking out cabinets along with counters can be somewhat overwhelming but her knowledge & experience helped us make the right decisions. Dylan & Juwan unloaded truck & Dylan check off ship ticket to make sure all boxes were accounted for. Courteous & pleasant to talk to…nice job of stacking everything neatly in our garage. We couldn't be more pleased with the service & so happy with our kitchen

We recently worked with Lauren on cabinetry for a master bathroom renovation. She was great to work on the design and selections. Lauren was efficient and responsive from cabinet selection through ordering. Our overall installation was smooth. We had some unforeseen circumstances impacting our ability to accept delivery of our cabinets on the initial agreed upon date. Kurtis was very accommodating in rescheduling delivery given our project challenges. We couldn't be happier with our cabinets for this project.

We had complete renovations to our kitchen and main bathroom. From start to finish, the design with Shanna was exactly what we asked for and Jeff stayed on top of the renovations, communicating each step of the way. Every worker was professional and the final product is elegant and functional. We were very happy with Kurtis and would choose Shanna and Jeff again.

We love our new kitchen! Kurtis Kitchen & Bath did an outstanding job, and Adrian at the Clarkston location was exceptional to work with—creative, patient, and really listened to what we wanted. The project was well-organized, and we went from demo to a fully functioning kitchen in just 30 days. Highly recommend!
