Fashionable Trends in Bathroom Design
Bathroom Remodeling Nov 14

2018 is nearly here and the trends in bathroom design look like there are going to be a lot of carryover and build up on many of the trends that we saw in 2017. One of the major trends to come out of 2017 was the use of vanities.
The Trend Is Toward Furniture Style Vanities
Right now, vanities are big business, and for those bathrooms that you find on all the blogs and liked on Pinterest, they are what most folks are focusing on. While there’s more emphasis on bathtubs as well nowadays, the vanity still occupies a special place as the centerpiece of the bathroom, and for many bathrooms, it will be the jumping point for the overall design of the entire bathroom. The ones that look and feel like furniture are quite hot in terms of bathroom design.
French Style Doors
Another huge trend in bathroom design is showers with French doors. Closed off showers are great because they allow the steam to fill up the area and it makes your shower feel that much more cozy and warm. Not only that, but French doors look incredibly slick, and look quite beautiful in the otherwise overlooked space of the shower.
Colorful Tile
Bathrooms aren’t generally known for being one of the most colorful rooms in the house, but powder blue tiles are making a comeback alongside other lightly colored tiles. The idea there is to keep the rest of the room relatively neutral in order to allow the tiles to shine through.
Black and White Patterned Floor Tile
Black and white is always going to be one of the most popular color schemes in areas like the kitchen or the bathroom and there’s a good reason for that: it looks pretty cool and in a room like the bathroom where tiled floors give you an opportunity to do something interesting with patterns and mosaics, something like black and white patterned floor tile isn’t going to remain forgotten forever.
Round Vanity Mirrors
A lot of what 2017 was about featured a movement away from hard edges toward rounded ones. Hence the fascination with rounded vanity mirrors which are perfect for putting above your furniture style vanity.
Open Showers
This one took a lot of folks by surprise, but designing bathrooms to have a drain in the middle of the room allowed folks to feature both a tub for soaking and a shower that was independent of the tub area, and not sectioned off against the rest of the room. Basically, the entire bathroom becomes one gigantic shower, and you won’t have to worry about splashing around in the bathtub either. The room drains like a community showers in locker rooms would.

From start to finish Kurtis was a great company to work with. From the initial contact and design concept with Gregory Holster to the cabinet drop off team, the install team led by project manager Jeff Tuomi and the countertop company, the project was on time and all work was performed beyond expectations. This was greatly appreciated seeing as it was completed on December 23. All the people involved were professional and did an excellent job.
Shanna was our project consultant. Picking out cabinets along with counters can be somewhat overwhelming but her knowledge & experience helped us make the right decisions. Dylan & Juwan unloaded truck & Dylan check off ship ticket to make sure all boxes were accounted for. Courteous & pleasant to talk to…nice job of stacking everything neatly in our garage. We couldn't be more pleased with the service & so happy with our kitchen
We recently worked with Lauren on cabinetry for a master bathroom renovation. She was great to work on the design and selections. Lauren was efficient and responsive from cabinet selection through ordering. Our overall installation was smooth. We had some unforeseen circumstances impacting our ability to accept delivery of our cabinets on the initial agreed upon date. Kurtis was very accommodating in rescheduling delivery given our project challenges. We couldn't be happier with our cabinets for this project.
We had complete renovations to our kitchen and main bathroom. From start to finish, the design with Shanna was exactly what we asked for and Jeff stayed on top of the renovations, communicating each step of the way. Every worker was professional and the final product is elegant and functional. We were very happy with Kurtis and would choose Shanna and Jeff again.
We love our new kitchen! Kurtis Kitchen & Bath did an outstanding job, and Adrian at the Clarkston location was exceptional to work with—creative, patient, and really listened to what we wanted. The project was well-organized, and we went from demo to a fully functioning kitchen in just 30 days. Highly recommend!
