Granite Countertop Materials With Dazzling Patterns

Countertops Kitchen Remodeling Jun 23

The main allure of granite countertops comes from the visually stimulating patterns commonly found in the stone. There's an incredible variety of granite material out there, and it's amazing how every pattern differs from the other. While the basic composition of granite slabs is similar throughout the natural stone spectrum, certain types of granite are made of certain minerals like mica and feldspar. These, combined with environmental characteristics millions of years in the making, serve to give the granite a distinct, dazzling look. Homeowners have a lot to look forward to when it comes to customizing their unique granite countertop, and the main choice that has to be made is which pattern will suit the kitchen best. Thankfully, homeowners don't lack options when it comes to choosing the granite that works best for them.

Alaska White

Alaska White is in the Arctic Rock family of granite countertops. Alaska White is quarried in Brazil and, despite the warm climate, features a stark, wintery design replete with cool grey, beige, and white, and streaked with black accent lines. The overall effect simulates ice breaking free from a glacier, drifting off to a cold sea. Alaska White is an incredibly popular material, perfect for contemporary kitchens.

 Cosmos Wave Granite

Homeowners looking for a stunning centerpiece for their kitchen might be interested in looking into Cosmos Wave Granite as a kitchen island-top. This incredibly unique stone features high concentrations of mica as well as large chunks of quartz. These minerals provide the material with its distinct shimmer. Additionally, the surface is accented by swirls of gold, copper, and silver, giving the material its cosmic namesake.

 Desert Dream

Desert Dream granite is part of the Lava Rock family. It is, indeed, among the most striking granite materials available as all reputable kitchen contractors know. It features burnt orange, ash gray, and copper swirling around a sleek, black background. All slabs of granite differ in texture and pattern from another and the difference is seen particularly clearly in highly stylized granite materials such as Desert Dream.

Black Marinace

Black Marinace is an incredibly unique, robust granite material. In terms of its geology, Black Marinace is a polymict pebble conglomerate. All of the round stones featured within the material have likely been rolled smooth over incredibly long periods of time as glaciers travelled over them. At some point, a minute sediment or slit made its way over the material, hardening as the material was covered with an increasing number of silt and new rock formations. If homeowners take a close look at the slab, they might notice a faint change of color (commonly known as a "weather rine" near the edge of the individual rocks. These are the points where each pebble found contact with powerful natural elements.

From start to finish Kurtis was a great company to work with. From the initial contact and design concept with Gregory Holster to the cabinet drop off team, the install team led by project manager Jeff Tuomi and the countertop company, the project was on time and all work was performed beyond expectations. This was greatly appreciated seeing as it was completed on December 23. All the people involved were professional and did an excellent job.

Shanna was our project consultant. Picking out cabinets along with counters can be somewhat overwhelming but her knowledge & experience helped us make the right decisions. Dylan & Juwan unloaded truck & Dylan check off ship ticket to make sure all boxes were accounted for. Courteous & pleasant to talk to…nice job of stacking everything neatly in our garage. We couldn't be more pleased with the service & so happy with our kitchen

We recently worked with Lauren on cabinetry for a master bathroom renovation. She was great to work on the design and selections. Lauren was efficient and responsive from cabinet selection through ordering. Our overall installation was smooth. We had some unforeseen circumstances impacting our ability to accept delivery of our cabinets on the initial agreed upon date. Kurtis was very accommodating in rescheduling delivery given our project challenges. We couldn't be happier with our cabinets for this project.

We had complete renovations to our kitchen and main bathroom. From start to finish, the design with Shanna was exactly what we asked for and Jeff stayed on top of the renovations, communicating each step of the way. Every worker was professional and the final product is elegant and functional. We were very happy with Kurtis and would choose Shanna and Jeff again.

We love our new kitchen! Kurtis Kitchen & Bath did an outstanding job, and Adrian at the Clarkston location was exceptional to work with—creative, patient, and really listened to what we wanted. The project was well-organized, and we went from demo to a fully functioning kitchen in just 30 days. Highly recommend!
