Quartz: Classic Look, Upgraded Practicality

Quartz countertops have been experiencing a stark upward swing in popularity in the past decade, and certainly for good reason. When listing the benefits of quartz on paper, it's easy to see why so many West Bloomfield, MI residents reworking their kitchen countertops are choosing to go with the engineered material. Indeed a testament to the potential of mankind, quartz countertops offer the look and strength of natural stone countertops without some of the obvious drawbacks. Of course, natural material is natural material, and no engineered quartz will ever be as pure as marble or granite. However, in terms of practicality, natural materials fall short when compared to quartz. Here are a few benefits of the miracle material.

Infinite Possibilities

Natural stone countertops and quartz countertops both have their own unique production methods. Granite and marble countertop slabs are literally blasted out of mountains in enormous, multi-ton rocks, which are then sliced into slabs, cut to measure, finished, and delivered. Quartz countertops, on the other hand, are entirely engineered using natural stone as their main ingredient. Quartz producers import natural stone and work it down to the desired texture until it's ready to be made into quartz. Polymer resin is mixed into the natural stone and the mixture is vibrated until it thickens up and hardens into a familiar quartz slab. This sort of production method means that quartz can take on virtually any natural stone texture and pattern, all without the relative fragility that comes with marble and granite.

A Classy Marble Look

Many homeowners wish more than anything to have a classic marble material, such as Bianco Carrara, installed in their kitchen. However, most homeowners know that marble is far from the most practical stone material, easily being worn down by daily usage of the kitchen. Thankfully, given quartz's incredible composition formula, it can effectively take on a nearly identical appearance to Bianco Carrara while remaining a practical kitchen countertop option. In effect, homeowners can have the best of both worlds by choosing engineered quartz....

Or a Rustic Granite

The same applies to granite. Homeowners have a host of granite-sourced quartz countertops to choose from, and they each have their own unique qualities to add to the kitchen. Homeowners who love granite but want something more flexible and resistant to wear should ask their local provider about the granite-sourced quartz material they offer.

All at an Attractive PriceTag

While no true stone countertop is cheap, quartz is surprisingly affordable given its comprehensive production method, aesthetic qualities, and practicality. Many quartz materials are offered at much lower prices than granite, so homeowners can save some valuable resources by opting for quartz over a more expensive granite or marble.

From start to finish Kurtis was a great company to work with. From the initial contact and design concept with Gregory Holster to the cabinet drop off team, the install team led by project manager Jeff Tuomi and the countertop company, the project was on time and all work was performed beyond expectations. This was greatly appreciated seeing as it was completed on December 23. All the people involved were professional and did an excellent job.

Shanna was our project consultant. Picking out cabinets along with counters can be somewhat overwhelming but her knowledge & experience helped us make the right decisions. Dylan & Juwan unloaded truck & Dylan check off ship ticket to make sure all boxes were accounted for. Courteous & pleasant to talk to…nice job of stacking everything neatly in our garage. We couldn't be more pleased with the service & so happy with our kitchen

We recently worked with Lauren on cabinetry for a master bathroom renovation. She was great to work on the design and selections. Lauren was efficient and responsive from cabinet selection through ordering. Our overall installation was smooth. We had some unforeseen circumstances impacting our ability to accept delivery of our cabinets on the initial agreed upon date. Kurtis was very accommodating in rescheduling delivery given our project challenges. We couldn't be happier with our cabinets for this project.

We had complete renovations to our kitchen and main bathroom. From start to finish, the design with Shanna was exactly what we asked for and Jeff stayed on top of the renovations, communicating each step of the way. Every worker was professional and the final product is elegant and functional. We were very happy with Kurtis and would choose Shanna and Jeff again.

We love our new kitchen! Kurtis Kitchen & Bath did an outstanding job, and Adrian at the Clarkston location was exceptional to work with—creative, patient, and really listened to what we wanted. The project was well-organized, and we went from demo to a fully functioning kitchen in just 30 days. Highly recommend!
