Storage Ideas To Optimize A Bathroom Vanity

Vanities Sep 15

Vanities create a sense of style and pair up as practical storage areas for a bathroom. Modern designers have taken to using sleek designs that fit in small and large bathrooms. The idea is to install adjustable cabinets, pull-out drawers, and shelves that are functional and complement the vanity and the rest of the bathroom décor. Here are some ways designers use to create additional storage areas for bathroom vanities. Adopting A Cottage Style Bathroom A cottage style uses soothing colors that warm up the bathroom space and provides ample storage for towels, laundry, and other accessories. Cottage-style interiors feature a middle cabinet that has open compartments for storing items, hence, providing more useful storage space than the shallow medicine cabinets in most bathroom spaces. Below the countertop, there is a combination of standard enclosures and drawers for more versatile storage space.

Most designers adopt the white-shaker cottage style that creates a classic appearance with a low backsplash tile of mild greens and soft blues to bring out a vintage feel with coastal accents. Adding Open Shelves Adding open shelves is the most common way of creating additional storage space to a bathroom vanity as they create a warmer, lighter appearance to the bathroom. If an open, airy sink has been used, the designer may add an open, metallic compartment under the sink. Sinks and the piping underneath usually take up a lot of space under the counter, hence, the need to adopt an open-design that does not clutter the space. Open shelves may also be installed in the middle or lower spaces where the homeowner can add storage baskets and tuck towels. If the vanity is made of dark, heavy stone, or wood, creating a visual break makes the room airier. Dual Vanity Style For large bathroom spaces, the designer may decide to use vanities with two sinks that allow the bathroom to accommodate more than one person and double up the storage space.

This chic design separates the two sinks using a central storage unit to give each person a dedicated space. A tall storage cabinet may be fitted in the middle to keep the vanity top from appearing long and cluttered while hiding the trash basket or electrical outlets. Fitting Shallow, Shaped Drawers Carefully fitted drawers below the sink also create additional space for a bathroom vanity. The designer may adopt unique designs for the drawers to avoid interfering with the piping or sink. Some modern drawer units feature full-depth spaces at the bottom with additional tiers toward the front that extend to full height to take advantage of the usable space in front of the piping. The upper compartment may be relatively slim for easy access of daily-use products while the other three or four have larger areas to increase functionality.

From start to finish Kurtis was a great company to work with. From the initial contact and design concept with Gregory Holster to the cabinet drop off team, the install team led by project manager Jeff Tuomi and the countertop company, the project was on time and all work was performed beyond expectations. This was greatly appreciated seeing as it was completed on December 23. All the people involved were professional and did an excellent job.

Shanna was our project consultant. Picking out cabinets along with counters can be somewhat overwhelming but her knowledge & experience helped us make the right decisions. Dylan & Juwan unloaded truck & Dylan check off ship ticket to make sure all boxes were accounted for. Courteous & pleasant to talk to…nice job of stacking everything neatly in our garage. We couldn't be more pleased with the service & so happy with our kitchen

We recently worked with Lauren on cabinetry for a master bathroom renovation. She was great to work on the design and selections. Lauren was efficient and responsive from cabinet selection through ordering. Our overall installation was smooth. We had some unforeseen circumstances impacting our ability to accept delivery of our cabinets on the initial agreed upon date. Kurtis was very accommodating in rescheduling delivery given our project challenges. We couldn't be happier with our cabinets for this project.

We had complete renovations to our kitchen and main bathroom. From start to finish, the design with Shanna was exactly what we asked for and Jeff stayed on top of the renovations, communicating each step of the way. Every worker was professional and the final product is elegant and functional. We were very happy with Kurtis and would choose Shanna and Jeff again.

We love our new kitchen! Kurtis Kitchen & Bath did an outstanding job, and Adrian at the Clarkston location was exceptional to work with—creative, patient, and really listened to what we wanted. The project was well-organized, and we went from demo to a fully functioning kitchen in just 30 days. Highly recommend!
