How to Transform a Regular Bathroom Into a Work of Art (Part 1)

Even the most commonplace of bathrooms can be effectively transformed into a well-designed, optimized room if the proper steps are taken. When upgrading a bathroom, it's important for homeowners to take all main factors into consideration. This includes bathroom vanities, cabinetry, bathtub, shower, etc. In order for the room to be effectively metamorphosed, all areas need to be properly addressed. With proper planning and some hard work, homeowners can soon find themselves enjoying the bathroom of their dreams.

Opting for Classic Marble

Marble is famously iffy in high-traffic areas like the kitchen. While it is relatively durable compared to other countertop materials, marble pales in comparison to granite and quartz when it comes to durability and practicality, at least when used in the kitchen. However, marble truly shines in bathroom applications. Simply renovating a bathroom vanity with a new marble top is a great way to revivify an old bathroom. Bianco Carrara is famously easy to work around stylistically, adequately complementing dark and light tones, and all shades in between. Of course, while Carrara is aesthetically flexible, it doesn't work with every single color and texture out there - as always, it's important for homeowners to take some samples home in order to get an idea of how the bathroom design functions as a whole.

Going Crazy With Classic Marble

When adding marble to a bathroom, it's easy to go overboard. The thing is, natural marble is such a classic, attractive material, there's little reason not to use it as the primary material in the bathroom remodel. Homeowners can effectively 'go nuts' with their marble renovations, using the material as a vanity, floor, bathtub border, floating shelf, windowsill, shower sill, etc. Once the marble pattern consumes a homeowner, it's hard to take other materials seriously. A full marble bathroom is a dazzling room to behold, and it's likely that a homeowner’s guests will find every excuse they can think of in order to spend as much time in the bathroom as possible.

Matching Quality Cabinetry With Quality Flooring

It's common for designers to recommend homeowners the 'division sign' design technique. Essentially, this technique entails matching the cabinetry with the floor, rather than the vanity to either the cabinetry or the floor. Having the vanity act as a visual interruption between a matching floor and cabinet can add a deeper aesthetic layer to the bathroom's design.

Avoid Clashing Aesthetics

No bathroom can truly be called a work of art if the aesthetics don't flow into each other properly. For instance, matching a busy countertop with an equally busy floor serves only as a visual distraction. Instead, homeowners are recommended to play with contrast wisely banking on the safe, matching option in all cases.

From start to finish Kurtis was a great company to work with. From the initial contact and design concept with Gregory Holster to the cabinet drop off team, the install team led by project manager Jeff Tuomi and the countertop company, the project was on time and all work was performed beyond expectations. This was greatly appreciated seeing as it was completed on December 23. All the people involved were professional and did an excellent job.

Shanna was our project consultant. Picking out cabinets along with counters can be somewhat overwhelming but her knowledge & experience helped us make the right decisions. Dylan & Juwan unloaded truck & Dylan check off ship ticket to make sure all boxes were accounted for. Courteous & pleasant to talk to…nice job of stacking everything neatly in our garage. We couldn't be more pleased with the service & so happy with our kitchen

We recently worked with Lauren on cabinetry for a master bathroom renovation. She was great to work on the design and selections. Lauren was efficient and responsive from cabinet selection through ordering. Our overall installation was smooth. We had some unforeseen circumstances impacting our ability to accept delivery of our cabinets on the initial agreed upon date. Kurtis was very accommodating in rescheduling delivery given our project challenges. We couldn't be happier with our cabinets for this project.

We had complete renovations to our kitchen and main bathroom. From start to finish, the design with Shanna was exactly what we asked for and Jeff stayed on top of the renovations, communicating each step of the way. Every worker was professional and the final product is elegant and functional. We were very happy with Kurtis and would choose Shanna and Jeff again.

We love our new kitchen! Kurtis Kitchen & Bath did an outstanding job, and Adrian at the Clarkston location was exceptional to work with—creative, patient, and really listened to what we wanted. The project was well-organized, and we went from demo to a fully functioning kitchen in just 30 days. Highly recommend!
