Wall Protection Options During A Bathroom Remodel
Kitchen Remodeling May 24

The bathroom is one of the areas of the house that have to put up with moisture contact on a regular basis. Waterproofing is a critical element to consider when picking out the surface finishing for remodeled bathrooms. Surfaces with water-resistant properties prevent water damage, mold, and mildew issues. Certain sections like the shower walls and around the sink and bathtub are more affected than others, which means they require priority. The material that a homeowner settles on has to provide wall protection and beautification in equal measure, and some of the alternatives available include the following.
Tiles
The reason tiles are favorites for remodeled bathrooms is that they meet high waterproofing standards and are widely versatile. Marble, porcelain, and slate are some of the materials that a homeowner can choose from for a remodel. Because the materials vary in quality, buyers have many budgetary options. The numerous color and design selections allow homeowners to have any décor themes.
Beadboard
The material is an alternative to tile and offers durability besides its water-resistant trait. A homeowner can have beadboard fitted on the bottom part to protect the walls against splashes from the tub or shower. Like tile, beadboard is easy to install. It is usually used for the rustic and antique décor themes due to its traditional appearance. Semi-gloss or glossy paint enhances the protection capability of the beadboard.
Stone
Stone walls are not new and are some of the most versatile types. They guarantee durability and protection from moisture damage. Stone gives great design options that can blend with different interior decoration trends from rustic to contemporary. Natural stone is ideal when aiming for an extravagant look. Painting stone walls makes it possible to have them in numerous colors and textures.
Glass
Apart from their futuristic looks, glass showers work when aiming to minimize the water exposure to walls. It is possible to have glass walls around a bathtub as well. Glass is ideal when remodeling a small bathroom because it makes the place feel more spacious. However, a homeowner must be ready for the limited privacy afforded by glass walls. With finishing options such as staining, double glazing, and metallic, homeowners get a satisfying range of design choices.
Acrylic
Another waterproof material that is suitable for walls is acrylic. The style, shape, and price variety that the material provides means that homeowners are not limited in their remodel options. One downside is that acrylic comes in white and off-white.Waterproof surfaces ensure that remodeled bathrooms don’t get damaged by steam, moisture, or water. They also make maintenance less challenging for a homeowner, thereby extending its lifespan. When selecting waterproof surfaces for these rooms, one should factor in the decoration, budget, and quality options.

From start to finish Kurtis was a great company to work with. From the initial contact and design concept with Gregory Holster to the cabinet drop off team, the install team led by project manager Jeff Tuomi and the countertop company, the project was on time and all work was performed beyond expectations. This was greatly appreciated seeing as it was completed on December 23. All the people involved were professional and did an excellent job.
Shanna was our project consultant. Picking out cabinets along with counters can be somewhat overwhelming but her knowledge & experience helped us make the right decisions. Dylan & Juwan unloaded truck & Dylan check off ship ticket to make sure all boxes were accounted for. Courteous & pleasant to talk to…nice job of stacking everything neatly in our garage. We couldn't be more pleased with the service & so happy with our kitchen
We recently worked with Lauren on cabinetry for a master bathroom renovation. She was great to work on the design and selections. Lauren was efficient and responsive from cabinet selection through ordering. Our overall installation was smooth. We had some unforeseen circumstances impacting our ability to accept delivery of our cabinets on the initial agreed upon date. Kurtis was very accommodating in rescheduling delivery given our project challenges. We couldn't be happier with our cabinets for this project.
We had complete renovations to our kitchen and main bathroom. From start to finish, the design with Shanna was exactly what we asked for and Jeff stayed on top of the renovations, communicating each step of the way. Every worker was professional and the final product is elegant and functional. We were very happy with Kurtis and would choose Shanna and Jeff again.
We love our new kitchen! Kurtis Kitchen & Bath did an outstanding job, and Adrian at the Clarkston location was exceptional to work with—creative, patient, and really listened to what we wanted. The project was well-organized, and we went from demo to a fully functioning kitchen in just 30 days. Highly recommend!
